Bowling
Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University’s Department of Theatre and Dance will present “Violet” Nov. 6-11 at the Russell H. Miller Theatre in the Ivan Wilson Fine Arts Center.
The Jeanine Tesori musical, directed by WKU’s Tracey Moore, will be performed at 8 p.m. Nov. 6-8 and Nov. 10-11 with a 3 p.m. matinee on Nov. 9. Admission is $10.
“Violet” tells the story of a young woman who travels from North Carolina to Tulsa in 1964 to be “healed” by a charismatic television preacher. Along the way, she meets and falls in love with a young soldier.
This rock, country and gospel-style musical was an Off-Broadway hit when it opened in 1997. Featuring students from WKU’s theatre and music departments, this production is rated PG-13 for mature content and language.
