Green, Ky. - The 12th Annual Jim Wayne Miller Celebration of Writing will feature noted author Robert Morgan reading from his latest book, “Boone: A Biography.” The Washington Post named this book to its Top Ten Books of 2007, and it has been called the “definitive work on this American icon.”
Morgan’s reading is Nov. 2 at 2 p.m. (CT) in Garrett Conference Center l03. A reception and book signing follow.
Morgan is also a fiction writer and a poet. His last novel, “Gap Creek,” was an Oprah favorite and his poetry has been widely acclaimed.
The annual event celebrates the life and work of Dr. Jim Wayne Miller, professor of German language and literature at WKU from l963 until his death in l996. Best known as a poet, Dr. Miller also published short stories, a novel, a play, and numerous essays on Appalachia and related subjects. A documentary on his life and work won second place at the American Film Festival in New York in l985.
