Bowling
Green, Ky. - On the last day to register to vote in the general election, more than 700 Western Kentucky University students participated in a mock election, the largest number at a Kentucky university.
WKU’s Student Government Association partnered with University Centers and the Kentucky Secretary of State’s office, with the support of the College Democrats and College Republicans, to sponsor the third annual mock election. In all, 710 students cast ballots in the U.S. President and U.S. Senate races. The previous high was 228 voters at the University of Kentucky.
The group also helped more than 150 students register, understand absentee voting, change party affiliation and change addresses, according to Johnathon Boles, SGA president and WKU student regent.
The results are as follows:
President
*Barack Obama 381
*John S. McCain 306
*Ralph Nader 8
*Write-in 7
*Bob Barr 4
U.S. Senate-Kentucky
