Two WKU Students Appointed To Student Advisory Committee

November 05, 2008

Bowling Green, Ky. - Two Western Kentucky University students have been appointed to a new Student Advisory Committee by Gov. Steve Beshear.

Johnathon Boles, an Elizabethtown junior, and Kevin Smiley, a Danville junior, were appointed to the committee which will work with the members of the Higher Education Task Force on ways to make college more affordable and financial aid more accessible.

“I think it is a great honor to be named to this body,” said Boles, who is president of WKU’s Student Government Association. “I hope that students from across the Commonwealth echo that stable funding is key to providing students opportunities and provide Kentucky the opportunity of retaining more college educated citizens.”

The Student Advisory Committee includes traditional and nontraditional students who attend both public and private institutions across Kentucky. The group’s first meeting is Nov. 12.
