Kentucky Library & Museum To Host 'Christmas In Kentucky'

November 25, 2008

Bowling Green, Ky. - The Kentucky Library & Museum at Western Kentucky University will host its third annual “Christmas in Kentucky” family event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 6, just after the Bowling Green Christmas Parade.

During the day, children will have a chance to have their picture taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus, visit with Big Red, make craft or wildlife ornaments, and participate in a scavenger hunt throughout the museum.

“We are looking forward to this year’s event,” said Christy Spurlock, Education Curator for the Kentucky Library & Museum and Coordinator for Christmas in Kentucky. “Last year, over 1,000 people participated during the day so we’re anticipating another great turnout.”

According to Spurlock, this year’s theme is centered on the 1860s to coordinate with the new Civil War exhibit, “A Star in Each Flag: Conflict in Kentucky.” Participants will see individuals dressed in both Victorian and Civil War attire. Other activities will include carolers, open hearth cooking in the log cabin, storytelling and a magician making balloon animals.

“Christmas in Kentucky” is sponsored by University Libraries and free to the entire community. The Kentucky Library & Museum is located at 1400 Kentucky St. with plenty of free parking on any of the parking lots directly across the street.
