Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University forensic team members swept both halves of the Tennessee Porch Swing in Nashville, Tenn., the weekend of Nov. 15-16. In the first portion, hosted by Belmont, WKU won with only five students.
Results from the Tennessee Porch Swing are as follows:
Lauren Nelson, a senior from Wheaton, Ill., tournament champion in impromptu speaking, second in extemporaneous speaking and third in poetry interpretation in the Belmont portion; tournament champion in extemporaneous speaking, second in poetry interpretation and third in prose interpretation in the Carson-Newman portion.
Carrie Guggenmos, a junior from Fullerton, Calif., tournament champion in poetry interpretation and third in dramatic interpretation in the Belmont portion; tournament champion in dramatic interpretation, second in persuasive speaking and third in poetry interpretation in the Carson-Newman portion.
Ganer Newman, a senior from Sherman Oaks, Calif., tournament champion in dramatic interpretation and fifth in prose interpretation in the Belmont portion; tournament champion in impromptu speaking and fifth in prose interpretation in the Carson-Newman portion.
Jerome Davis, a junior from Austell, Ga., tournament champion in prose interpretation and second in dramatic interpretation in the Carson-Newman portion.
Ethan Millspaugh, a sophomore from Coppell, Texas, second in prose interpretation, second in dramatic interpretation, second in communication analysis and second in after-dinner speaking in the Belmont portion; tournament champion in after-dinner, speaking third in communication analysis and third in dramatic interpretation in the Carson-Newman portion.
Khristan Solliday, a freshman from Mitchell, Ind., fourth in communication analysis and fifth in extemporaneous speaking in the Belmont portion; second in extemporaneous speaking, third in impromptu speaking and fourth in communication analysis in the Carson-Newman portion.
Mario Nguyen, a freshman from Plano, Texas, second in after-dinner speaking, fourth in dramatic interpretation and fifth in impromptu speaking in the Carson-Newman portion.
Corey Gomez, a freshman from Newark, Calif., second in programmed oral interpretation and second in duo interpretation (with Jeff Boggess) in the Carson-Newman portion.
Jeffrey Boggess, a junior from Hayward, Calif., second in duo interpretation (with Corey Gomez) and fourth in poetry interpretation in the Carson-Newman portion.
Maggie Woodward, a freshman from Collierville, Tenn., second in informative speaking and fifth in communication analysis in the Carson-Newman portion.
Michael Courtney, a sophomore from Mayfield, third in informative speaking in the Carson-Newman portion.
Matt Whitman, a freshman from Austin, Texas, fourth in extemporaneous speaking in the Carson-Newman portion.
