Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University honored 87 seniors from 11 Owensboro area high schools for their academic achievements.
Tuesday’s annual High School Scholars Luncheon honored high school seniors who qualify for at least a renewable full-tuition scholarship to WKU. This year’s group has an average ACT composite score of 29 and grade-point average of 3.90 and includes 31 Governor’s Scholars and six National Merit Semifinalists.
The students honored at the RiverPark Center included:
From Apollo High School: Danielle Bethel, Ian Flener, Elizabeth Harpe, Alyssa Oller, Courtney Schisler, Alison Schroeder and Lauren Thomas.
From Daviess County High School: Abigail Augenstein, Kate Douglas, Joshua Edge, Thomas Eggers, Lindsey Jagoe, Vijay Maheshwari, Kelsi Perdy, Adair Quisenberry, Meredith Ranney, Caitlin Reyes, Puja Sangoi and Joseph Tong.
From Hancock County High School: Brett Allen, Mindy Case, Sara Huddy, Lauren Jackson, Tyler Jarboe and Billy Newman Stephens.
From Henderson County High School: Colby Conley, Charles Crowder, David Fuller, Matthew Howard, Paul Kirkpatrick, Lucinda Laughlin, Matthew McGrail, Elizabeth Metzger, Jessica Moran, Zachary Murdach, Anna Plemmons, Leslie Potts, Hannah Pruitt, Bayardo Solorza and Noelle Spooner.
From McLean County High School: Kurtis Frizzell, Josh Whitt and Victoria Wilson.
From Muhlenberg North High School: Bethany Doll, Richard Edlin, Katherine Gardner, David Perry, Caleb Piper, Kristina Pressley, Shaylyn Tuohy and Kevin Winter.
From Muhlenberg South High School: Gabriel Charbonneau, Evan Dixon, Anna Mallory and Karalyn Troutman.
From Ohio County High School: Emily Cardwell, Erika Curtis, Aaron Daniel, Brittany Duvall, Erika Martin, Lucy Paez, Morgan Payton, Wade Taylor and Brendan Westerfield.
From Owensboro High School: George Callis, Jacob Hicks, Morgan Humphrey, Jessica Johnson, Austin Moss, Heather Nelson, John Runyon, Zach Russell, Ethan Smith, Chris Swift, Bennett Thompson and Cody Tuttle.
From Owensboro Catholic High School: Kevin Buntin, Elizabeth Fenwick, David Gruenewald, Taylor Hamilton, Blake Hayden, Kyle Mattingly, Willie Polio, Chris Riccio and Zach Smith.
From Whitesville Trinity High School: Nick Fulkerson and Michael Thompson.
WKU will conclude its annual series of recognition events Jan. 22 with the Elizabethtown Area Scholars Dinner.
