Bowling
Green, Ky. - The Gordon Ford College of Business at Western Kentucky University announces a major change in outreach for the WKU-MBA program.
For many years the WKU-MBA has prepared students to be future business leaders. Beginning fall 2008 students will have more options than ever before to complete this valued degree. Prospective MBA students can apply for any one of three delivery options.
The new Full-time MBA will allow students to graduate in only one year by attending specified day and evening classes on campus. This option is for students who are not in a full-time job and wish to complete the MBA degree in 12 months, the shortest time possible. Classes take place year-round. Admissions are only for the fall semester.
The new Professional MBA will only admit managers and high-level professionals who have five years or more of mid to top level management experience. Professional MBA students enter as a group and graduate two years later with the same group. Students meet on alternate Saturdays year round averaging two courses at a time. Admissions are only for the fall semester. An additional course fee is added to tuition for this option.
The Online MBA increases the opportunity for those who want the flexibility of completing their degree on a part-time basis without traveling to a classroom. Students can take one or two classes per semester and can take between two and five years to graduate. Admissions are taken for the fall or the spring term. An additional course fee is added to tuition for this option.
MBAs are increasing in popularity. Applications in the United States have been up for several years. MBA programs require a Graduate Management Admission Test score for admission and test taking was up 12 percent in 2007. Employers also expect to hire 18 percent more MBA graduates than last year, according to the Graduate Management Admission Council.
“MBA degrees are not just another graduate degree. MBA degrees have among the highest return on investment (ROI) among all graduate degrees, particularly for those with a plan to enhance or change their careers,” according to Dr. Bob Hatfield, WKU’s MBA Coordinator.
“In reaction to these trends we have changed the way we offer our accredited program to better meet the needs of our region. We are excited about our ‘executive-style’ program for those already in leadership; our full-time program for BS/MBA students and others; and our proven part-time online program for those who are limited in time but still wish to earn the MBA,” Dr. Hatfield said. “Entering the WKU-MBA may be one of the most important career decisions you will ever make.”
The next deadline for admission for all three options is March 1. All Full-time and Professional MBA students start their program in the fall term.
