Project Graduate: Finish WKU To Be Featured At Open House

January 03, 2008

Bowling Green, Ky. - Programs designed to help Kentuckians who have some college credits finish their degrees will be featured during an open house/information session Jan. 8 at Western Kentucky University. The open house begins at 7 p.m. at the Welcome Center in the Kentucky Building.

Project Graduate is a statewide outreach program by the Council on Postsecondary Education in partnership with Kentucky’s public colleges and universities, the Kentucky Community and Technical College System and the Association of Independent Kentucky Colleges and Universities.  It offers incentives and services to former students with 90 or more credit hours to return and complete their degrees.

WKU’s program, called Project Graduate: Finish WKU, has already sparked much interest since it was announced in December, according to Coordinator Sam Starks. “We want to get the word out about the program prior to the start of the spring semester,” he said. “That may assist some in starting work now toward finishing their degree.”

CPE estimates more than 300,000 Kentucky adults ages 25-50 have some college credit from a public institution, but no degree. Of those, more than 11,000 have earned 90 or more credit hours. A typical bachelor’s degree requires 128 credit hours.
