WKU To Celebrate Coming Home 2008 On Feb. 2

January 23, 2008

Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University will honor those who formed the tradition of WKU basketball during the annual Coming Home Celebration set for Feb. 2.

“The Alumni Association created Coming Home in 2000 to give WKU alumni and fans another reason to return home to the Hill,” said Ginny Hensley, associate director of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving.

“WKU has a rich basketball tradition, and this weekend is an opportunity for all WKU alumni and fans to honor those individuals who helped form that tradition. Along with celebrating former players, the student body celebrates the weekend by crowning the Coming Home King during the men’s game.”

Both WKU basketball teams will play Sun Belt Conference rival Denver on Feb. 2. The Lady Toppers tip off against the Pioneers at 3 p.m. and the Hilltoppers take the floor at 7 p.m. The arena will be cleared between games.

At 6 p.m., the Coming Home reunion room will be open to the public in Diddle Arena’s Hall of Champions. The first 500 fans to arrive receive a free mini WKU basketball, sponsored by Liberty Mutual. Refreshments will be served.

At halftime of each game, former basketball players in attendance will be honored.
