WKU Police Accepting Applications For Leadership Academy

Bowling Green, Ky. - The Western Kentucky University Police Explorer Post 825 is accepting applications for the 2008 Leadership Academy.
           
The academy, which runs June 22-27, is intended to educate participants on various police operations along with building a foundation for Police Exploring. It includes numerous practical training exercises, including the 24-hour course to earn the nationally-recognized International Police Mountain Bike Association bicycle certification as well as live firearms exercises.
           
Participants will also take part in exercises such as traffic stops, performing field sobriety tests, and handcuffing techniques.
           
Cost is $300 and covers housing, meals, physical fitness shirt and shorts, ammunition and other miscellaneous items. Applicants must be at least 17 years old.
