Strings Students Preparing For Final Recitals Of 2008

December 01, 2008

Bowling Green, Ky. - Private lessons students in Western Kentucky University’s pre-college string development program will hold a recital at 7 p.m. Friday, (Dec. 5). The violin/viola recital will be held at the Ivan Wilson Fine Arts Center Recital Hall on the campus of WKU.

Students in the county schools strings program will hold a holiday concert, which will feature the Drakes Creek Middle School orchestra, at 3 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 6) at WKU’s recital hall.

Admission for both events is free to the public.

“Recitals give our students an opportunity to celebrate their hard work with family and friends,” according to Anna Cromwell, violin and viola instructor.

WKU’s Music Department and the Division of Extended Learning and Outreach (DELO) developed the pre-college string development program in 2003 to offer high quality instruction in orchestral stringed instruments in a nurturing environment.
