Bowling
Green, Ky. -Western Kentucky University’s Raymond B. Preston Health and Activities will be closed through Sunday after a fire in the sauna.
The fire on Saturday afternoon was contained to the sauna by the building’s sprinkler system before being extinguished by the Bowling Green Fire Department. Fire damage was limited to the sauna with minimal water and smoke damage to the faculty men’s locker room.
About 60 people were evacuated by the Preston Center staff and WKU Police. A high school swim meet that was in progress at the Powell Natatorium was relocated to Bowling Green High School.
The Preston Center will reopen Monday at 11:30 a.m. Hours for the winter break will be 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Friday.
