Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University will celebrate its 164th Commencement at 10 a.m. Dec. 13 at Diddle Arena.
WKU will confer degrees to 1,009 students: 86 associate’s, 722 baccalaureate, 197 master’s and four recipients of the doctoral degree offered cooperatively by WKU and University of Louisville.
About 800 students are expected to participate in the ceremony that will include remarks from President Gary Ransdell; recognition of the Ogden Foundation Scholar, an award presented to one graduating baccalaureate degree senior who has demonstrated exceptional academic achievement and outstanding university and civic engagement; recognition of honor graduates; and commissioning of three Army ROTC graduates as second lieutenants.
Jeremiah M. Bush, a music major from Sunfish in Edmonson County, will be the first graduate of WKU’s Honors College. Bush, whose father is a faculty member at WKU’s Bowling Green Community College, was valedictorian at Edmonson County High School in 2004.
The ceremony will be broadcast live on WKYU-PBS with a webcast online at http://www.wkusports.tv. The ceremony will be replayed on WKYU-PBS at 1 p.m. Dec. 15.

Friday, Dec. 12
6 p.m., ROTC commissioning at Kentucky Library & Museum’s Kentucky Room.
6:30 p.m., Outstanding Black Graduates Recognition Ceremony at Ivan Wilson Fine Arts Center’s Russell Miller Theatre.
Saturday, Dec. 13
8 a.m., BSN Nursing Convocation at Downing University Center Theatre.
10 a.m., Commencement at Diddle Arena.
1:30 p.m., Associate Degree Nursing Program Pinning Ceremony at Downing University Center Theatre.
