WKU Debate Team Members Attend Camp, Competition

Bowling Green, Ky. - Four Western Kentucky University forensic team members traveled to Easton, Pa., to take part in a debate training camp the week of Aug. 2-10.

WKU coaches Brooks Johnson and Justin Cress traveled with the students and served as instructors for the camp.

At the end of the week, Lafayette College Debate Camp hosted an NFA Lincoln-Douglas debate tournament. WKU’s debate team closed out the final round, resulting in a co-championship.

Results from the Lafayette College Debate Camp are as follows:

Joshua Harzman, a sophomore from Salina, Kan., sixth debate speaker.

Sarah Spiker, a sophomore from Snohomish, Wash., fourth debate speaker.

Josh Ramsey, a junior from Fort Scott, Kan., eighth debate speaker and co-champion in Lincoln-Douglas debate.

Brandon Merrell, a sophomore from Snohomish, Wash., second debate speaker and co-champion in Lincoln-Douglas debate.
