WKU Greeks March To Different Beat To Raise Money During Philanthrophy Day On April 26

Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University Greeks have paired with the March of Dimes this year in making philanthropy day an even more rewarding event. 

Philanthropy day will be held Saturday (April 26) at Phil Moore Park.  Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the walk will begin at 10. 

The March of Dimes’ March for Babies, a new event for Greeks, has made both philanthropy day chairs excited from day one.

“Philanthropy day has been a struggling crowd pleaser for the past few years so we wanted an event that was beneficial to a good cause, simple for the participants, and an enjoyable time,” said WKU senior Chris Kramer.
The philanthropy day chairs have high expectations and have set several goals, including increasing the amount of participation for the walk and the actual day. With this success they hope to increase the recognition for the March for Babies and increase the amount of money raised for preterm babies that are born everyday.

Through this philanthropic event, WKU Greeks have set a goal of raising $3,600 but hope to raise even more money. 

“With our participation, this March for Babies will be the largest in Warren County’s region,” said senior Megan Hicks.

One thing Hicks learned, after being involved with the March for Babies, is how much they have affected everyone’s life. Anyone who has ever received a polio vaccine, lung surfactant treatment or has been in a neonatal care unit has been affected by the March of Dimes. 

“They are truly an organization that is passionate and effective.  They sponsor the newest research and raise money to take care of premature babies,” she said.
