Green, Ky. - The Veterans Upward Bound program at Western Kentucky University has been funded in the amount of $278,881 a year for a total of $1,115,524 for four years. The program will run from Oct. 1, 2007, through Sept. 30, 2011, and will serve military veterans who wish to prepare to enter postsecondary school.
Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) has been funded since 1992 at WKU and has helped numerous veterans in southcentral Kentucky to enter and succeed in college, vocational school or technical school. Currently recruiting participants, the program will offer free educational services to qualified veterans.
Randy Wilson, Director of Veterans Upward Bound, stated, “We have only one of 42 such grants in the nation and it is the only program of its kind in Kentucky. We are fortunate to receive this funding to serve deserving and qualified U.S. military veterans.”
