Bowling Green Western Symphony To Perform Sept. 27

Bowling Green, Ky. - The Bowling Green Western Symphony Orchestra will open its season Sept. 27 at First Baptist Church in Bowling Green.
 
“Music from Outer Space” will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $5.

The symphony will perform music featured in selected science fiction movies. The selections include “Thus Spake Zarathustra” by Richard Strauss, featured in the opening sequence of “2001: A Space Odyssey”; “The Blue Danube Waltz” by Johann Strauss Jr., featured in “2001”; “Mars” and “Jupiter” from “The Planets” by Gustav Holst, featured in “The Man Who Fell to Earth” and “The Right Stuff”; “Flying Theme” by John Williams, featured in “E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial”; “Star Trek” theme by Jerry Goldsmith; and “Star Wars” theme by John Williams.

The Bowling Green Western Symphony Orchestra also will perform a free concert at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 28 at Glasgow’s Plaza Theatre.
