Bowling Green Honors Retired WKU Professors

Bowling Green, Ky. - The city of Bowling Green’s new recreation facility at 333 College St. has been named to honor retired Western Kentucky University professors Dr. William “Biff” Kummer and Dr. Alton Little.

Dr. Kummer and Dr. Little taught in the Department of Physical Education and Recreation at WKU for more than 30 years. Dr. Little is a recent recipient of the Jefferson Award for public service. Dr. Kummer serves on advisory boards for the College of Health and Human Services and Recreation Administration program at WKU.

Both individuals contributed countless hours to the recreation profession and quality of life issues in Kentucky including serving on the Bowling Green Park Board.

The Kummer-Little Recreation Center features two regulation basketball courts, an indoor walking track, concession stand and a multi-purpose room. The facility is located adjacent to the existing Bowling Green Recreation Center at 225 E. Third Ave.

Bowling Green was recognized as Kentucky’s 2006 Outstanding Parks and Recreation Department for Class I (large) departments by the Kentucky Recreation and Park Society.
