Bowling
Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University forensic team members traveled to Normal, Ill., to take part in the Seventy-Four Swing the weekend of Oct. 6-7.
Held on the campus of Illinois State University, the two tournaments are hosted by ISU and Bradley University.
WKU’s team of 11 captured the sweepstakes championships at both halves of the tournament, with Arizona State University taking second in both. Eastern Michigan University took third in the ISU portion, while Ohio
University took third in the Bradley portion.
Results from the Seventy-Four Swing are as follows:
Ben Pyle, a senior from Harrisburg, Ill., tournament champion in communication analysis, third in duo interpretation (with Maggie Waid), third in poetry interpretation and fourth in dramatic interpretation in the ISU portion; tournament champion in communication analysis and third in dramatic interpretation in the Bradley portion.
Rachel Wigginton, a junior from Glendale, tournament champion in after-dinner speaking in the ISU portion; tournament champion in after-dinner speaking and fifth in poetry interpretation in the Bradley portion.
Maggie Waid, a senior from Symsonia, tournament champion in dramatic interpretation and third in duo interpretation (with Ben Pyle) in the ISU portion; second in dramatic interpretation in the Bradley portion.
Daniel Johnson, a sophomore from Independence, Mo., fifth in duo interpretation (with Adam Swanson) in the ISU portion; tournament champion in duo interpretation (with Adam Swanson) and tournament champion in dramatic interpretation in the Bradley portion.
Adam Swanson, a sophomore from Rosemount, Minn., third in prose interpretation and fifth in duo interpretation (with Adam Swanson) in the ISU portion; tournament champion in duo interpretation (with Daniel Johnson) and sixth in prose interpretation in the Bradley portion.
Kelly Lootz, a freshman from Plymouth, Mass., tournament champion in novice informative speaking in the Bradley portion.
Ethan Millspaugh, a freshman from Coppell, Texas, second in after-dinner speaking and sixth in prose interpretation in the ISU portion; second in novice prose interpretation in the Bradley portion.
Samantha Harrison, a sophomore from Carrollton, fourth in communication analysis and fifth in impromptu speaking in the ISU portion; third in communication analysis in the Bradley portion.
Michael Courtney, a freshman from Mayfield, sixth in persuasive speaking in the ISU portion; fifth in persuasive speaking and fifth in novice prose interpretation in the Bradley portion.
Chelsea Harman, a freshman from Hickory, third in novice prose interpretation in the ISU portion; second in novice informative speaking in the Bradley portion.
Jeffrey Boggess, a sophomore from Hayward, Calif., fourth in programmed oral interpretation in the ISU portion; fourth in poetry interpretation in the Bradley portion.
