CEO Of U.S. Bancorp To Speak At WKU Nov. 8

Bowling Green, Ky. - Richard K. Davis, president and chief executive officer of U.S. Bancorp, will visit Western Kentucky University Nov. 8 as part of the Hays Watkins Visiting CEO Lecture Series.

The Gordon Ford College of Business will host a reception for Davis at 2:30 p.m. in the Grise Hall fourth floor lobby. Davis’ lecture will begin at 3:30 p.m. in the Grise Hall Auditorium.

Davis, 49, became CEO of U.S. Bancorp in 2006, and has been a senior executive with the organization since 1993, most recently as president and chief operating officer. His strategic vision has and continues to influence the company’s consumer banking, wholesale banking, private client, trust, asset management, risk management and payments businesses. He chairs U.S. Bancorp’s managing committee, which comprises the 13 highest-ranking executives within the organization.

U.S. Bancorp, a financial holding company, has more than $223 billion in total assets and business across the United States, Canada and Europe and is the parent company of U.S. Bank, which has 2,499 full-service banking offices and 4,867 ATMs in 24 states. 

U.S. Bancorp, headquartered in Minneapolis, also is the parent company of NOVA Information Systems, a leader in the payment processing industry.

Davis has 30 years of experience in the banking industry and was one of the key leaders in the successful mergers of Firstar Corporation with U.S. Bancorp of Minneapolis in 2001, Firstar Corporation with Mercantile Bancorporation Inc. of St. Louis in 1999, and Star Banc Corporation of Cincinnati with Firstar in November 1998.  Before the Star/Firstar merger, Davis was an executive vice president at Star Banc Corporation.

Before joining U.S. Bancorp and its predecessors, Davis was executive vice president at Bank of America and Security Pacific Bank, both located in Los Angeles.

Davis serves on the boards of the American Bankers Association, Minnesota Orchestra, the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, Guthrie Theatre, Minneapolis YMCA, Minneapolis Art Institute, Financial Services Roundtable, University of San Diego, Xcel Energy and U.S. Bancorp.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from California State University at Fullerton, and is married and the father of three.

About the Hays Watkins Visiting CEO Lecture Series:
Hays Watkins is a former CEO and chairman of CSX Corp. and is a graduate of Bowling Green Business University, predecessor of WKU’s Gordon Ford College of Business. The visiting professorship series was created in 1999. Lecturers have included Warren Buffett, chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway; Cal Turner Jr., chairman and CEO of Dollar General Corp.; Mark Emkes, chairman and CEO of Bridgestone American Holding & Bridgestone Firestone North America Tire, LLC; Bill Samuels Jr., president and CEO of  Maker’s Mark Distillery; and David A. Jones, chairman and CEO of Humana Corp.
