Imagewest Stands Out At Markie Awards

Bowling Green, Ky. - Imagewest continues to shine after taking home several awards at this year’s Professional Marketing Association (PMA) Markie Awards held in Bowling Green at the Holiday Inn Plaza Hotel on
November 20, 2007.

Located on Western Kentucky University’s campus, Imagewest is the only student-run advertising and public relations agency in the nation and competed against professional marketers in 11 different categories with over 50 entries. Imagewest took home five of the awards.

“Students work hard to put out quality pieces for all of our clients,” said Heather Garcia, agency manager. “It’s nice to see their work honored among professionals.”

Imagewest won awards in the following categories this year:

1. Brochure, 3-4 color – Pan Oston (Bowling Green, Ky.)
2. Business Card – WROTE Foundation (Bowling Green, Ky.)
3. Direct Mail Piece, 1-2 color – WKU, Technology in Action Expo
(Bowling Green, Ky.)
4. Marketing Campaign – McDonald’s, Employee Recruitment
(Bowling Green, Ky.)
5. Specialty Item – Imagewest, ninja headband (Bowling Green, Ky.)

The items that received awards represent work produced at Imagewest during
late 2006 and throughout 2007. After opening in 2004, Imagewest began
entering their work in many competitions and have been award winning ever
since.

“The students are extremely creative and do great work,” said Pam Johnson, director of the School of Journalism and Broadcasting. “The agency provides a unique opportunity for students to gain experience before graduation.”

Interns for Fall 2007 include: Summer Bolton, agency assistant & jr. art director (Bowling Green, KY), Kristin Bond, account executive (Prospect, KY), Zach Brookes, account executive (Lexington, KY), Jason Lee, graphic designer (Elizabethtown, KY), Nikki Robins, interactive/web designer (Haleyville, AL), Greg Roy, graphic designer (Hendersonville, TN), Chelsey Shelton, public relations coordinator (Glasgow, KY), Annie St. Clair, public relations coordinator (Prospect, KY), Emily Trabue, graphic designer (Glasgow, KY), Megan Venzin, account executive (Frankfort, KY), and Sydney Wilson, graphic designer (Hendersonville, TN).
