WKU Forensic Team Competes In California Tournaments

Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University forensic team members traveled to Stockton, Calif., to take part in three tournaments the weekend of Nov. 9-11.
At the Delta Mustang Invitational, WKU’s debate team placed second in debate sweepstakes. Rice University received first, and San Francisco State University took third. At the Paul Winters Invitational, the team placed third overall.
Results from the Pacific Meets Delta Tournament are as follows:
Jessica Furgerson, a sophomore from San Antonio, Texas, tournament champion in extemporaneous speaking and third in persuasive speaking in the Mustang portion; third in persuasive speaking, quarterfinalist in Lincoln-Douglas debate and quarterfinalist in parliamentary debate (with Rachel Mosley) in the Paul Winters portion.
Thomas Schally, a junior from Stillwater, Minn., tournament champion in parliamentary debate (with Chad Meadows) and tournament co-champion in Lincoln-Douglas debate in the Paul Winters portion.
Chad Meadows, a senior from Owensboro, tournament champion in parliamentary debate (with Thomas Schally), quarterfinalist in Lincoln-Douglas debate and ninth parliamentary debate speaker in the Paul Winters portion.
Brian Bloss, a junior from Coppell, Texas, second in extemporaneous speaking in the Mustang portion; tournament co-champion in Lincoln-Douglas debate, quarterfinalist in parliamentary debate (with Kelcy Hathaway) and 20th parliamentary debate speaker in the Paul Winters portion.
Kelcy Hathaway, a sophomore from Garden City, Kan., second in impromptu speaking in the Mustang portion; finalist in impromptu; quarterfinalist in Lincoln-Douglas debate, quarterfinalist in parliamentary debate (with Brian Bloss) and 15th parliamentary debate speaker in the Paul Winters portion.
Elizabeth Mullins, a sophomore from Plymouth, Mass., second in parliamentary debate (with Logan Parke) and fourth debate speaker at the round robin; third parliamentary debate speaker and octafinalist in parliamentary debate (with Logan Parke) in the Paul Winters portion.
Logan Parke, a sophomore from Little Rock, Ark., second in parliamentary debate (with Elizabeth Mullins) at the round robin; octafinalist in parliamentary debate (with Elizabeth Mullins) and eighth parliamentary debate speaker in the Paul Winters portion.
Rachel Mosley, a junior from Lake Tahoe, Calif., quarterfinalist in Lincoln-Douglas debate and quarterfinalist in parliamentary debate (with Jessica Furgerson) in the Paul Winters portion.
