WKU Forensic Team Wins Championship At Bradley Tourney

Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University forensic team members traveled to Peoria, Ill., and Manchester, N.H., to take part in two tournaments the weekend of Nov. 2-5.
In Peoria, WKU triumphed at the L.E. Norton Bradley Invitational, the largest tournament of the year outside the national tournaments. WKU was crowned sweepstakes champion followed by George Mason University and Arizona State University.
WKU sent a small team of five members to the St. Anselm Debate Tournament in New Hampshire, placing second in team sweepstakes. Lafayette College was first and St. Anselm College was third.
Results from the L.E. Norton Bradley Invitational are as follows:
Saeed Jones, a senior from Lewisville, Texas, tournament champion in impromptu speaking, fifth in pentathalon and semifinalist in poetry interpretation.
Daniel Johnson, a sophomore from Independence, Mo., tournament champion in dramatic interpretation, third in duo interpretation (with Adam Swanson) and sixth in poetry interpretation.
Kelly Lootz, a freshman from Plymouth, Mass., tournament champion in novice dramatic interpretation, second in novice informative speaking and third in novice duo interpretation (with Colby Holt).
Natalie Sintek, a senior from Eagan, Minn., fourth in informative speaking, fourth in prose interpretation and semifinalist in poetry interpretation.
Robert Whittley, a freshman from Glenview, Ill., fifth in novice informative speaking, sixth in duo interpretation (with Jerome Davis) and sixth in novice prose interpretation.
Benjamin Unanaowo, a senior from Union City, Calif., tournament champion in poetry interpretation.
Desiree Guerrero, a freshman from Fullerton, Calif., second in novice persuasive speaking and fourth in novice informative speaking.
Cornelius Lee, a junior from Killeen, Texas, second in duo interpretation (with Jeffrey Boggess) and semifinalist in prose interpretation.
Maggie Waid, a senior from Symsonia, second in dramatic interpretation and semifinalist in prose interpretation.
Jessica Furgerson, a sophomore from San Antonio, second in impromptu speaking and semifinalist in extemporaneous speaking.
Drew Horner, a sophomore from Morristown, Tenn., second in informative speaking.
Seth Peckham, a sophomore from Alden, Kan., second in persuasive speaking.
Jeffrey Boggess, a sophomore from Hayward, Calif., second in duo interpretation (with Cornelius Lee).
Rachel Wigginton, a junior from Glendale, third in communication analysis and semifinalist in informative speaking.
Adam Swanson, a sophomore from Rosemount, Minn., third in duo interpretation (with Daniel Johnson).
Micah Mason, a junior from Desoto, Texas, third in persuasive speaking.
Lauren Nelson, a junior from Wheaton, Ill., third in extemporaneous speaking.
Colby Holt, a freshman from Paducah, third in novice duo interpretation (with Kelly Lootz).
Joele Denis, a junior from Hollywood, Fla., fourth in duo interpretation (with Samantha Harrison), semifinalist in prose interpretation and semifinalist in communication analysis.
Samantha Harrison, a sophomore from Carrollton, Texas, fourth in duo interpretation (with Joele Denis) and semifinalist in impromptu speaking.
Ganer Newman, a junior from Sherman Oaks, Calif., fourth in poetry interpretation.
Beth Berger, a senior from Lexington, fifth in prose interpretation and semifinalist in communication analysis.
Benjamin Pyle, a senior from Harrisburg, Ill., fifth in dramatic interpretation and semifinalist in communication analysis.
Jerome Davis, a sophomore from Austell, Ga., sixth in duo interpretation (with Robert Whittley).
Chelsea Harman, a freshman from Hickory, sixth in novice informative speaking.
