TV Movie To Feature Novel By Book Fest Headliner Albom

Bowling Green, Ky. - Author Mitch Albom’s latest book “For One More Day” will have its movie premiere on Sunday, Dec. 9, on ABC television.

In the film, based on Albom’s bestselling book of the same title, actor Michael Imperiolli of “The Sopranos” plays Chick Benetto, an alcoholic former baseball player who is about to commit suicide when he is magically granted one more day with his late mother played by Academy Award winning actress Ellen Burstyn. Harpo Films produced the movie under its “Oprah Winfrey Presents” banner. The teleplay was written by Mitch Albom.

Albom will be the featured guest at the Southern Kentucky Book Fest next spring. He is the author of nine books. His first novel, “The Five People You Meet in Heaven,” is the most successful U.S. hardcover first novel ever and has sold more than 8 million copies worldwide. “Tuesdays with Morrie,” his chronicle of time spent with a beloved but dying college professor, spent four years on the New York Times Best Sellers list and is the most successful memoir ever published.

The 2008 Book Fest is scheduled for April 19 at the Sloan Convention Center in Bowling Green. SOKY Book Fest is Kentucky’s largest literary festival and a fundraiser for the promotion of literacy. The event attracts thousands of readers of all ages who welcome the opportunity to meet their favorite authors and purchase signed copies of their works.
