WKU Dodgeball Tourney Raises $1,150 For Charity

November 30, 2007

Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University students in the Recreation 306 Program Planning Course taught by Dr. Tammie Stenger-Ramsey hosted the 4th Annual Duck-N-Dodge Charity Dodgeball Tournament on Thursday (Nov. 29).

The tournament raised $1,150 for the Bowling Green Special Olympics, the Mark “The Shark” Williams Scholarship Fund and Plano Elementary School Playground Fund.

Throughout the semester, students in the course learned how to plan, design, implement and evaluate recreation programs. The tournament allowed the students to be actively engaged in their coursework by allowing them the opportunity to put the program planning theories and models into practice.

Tournament champions were the “Hillstoppers,” captained by WKU student Adam Jent. Other team members were Vince Chapman, Ryan Graham and Adam Martin. The Hillstoppers are members of the WKU Dodgeball Club Team.

The REC 306 students and faculty would like to thank their primary sponsors Dial Research Associates, Dynamic Solutions and WKU Athletics for their generous support of the event as well as others who supported the tournament through participation and donations. A special thank you goes to the Revolution 91.7 FM radio station, Buffalo Wild Wings, Great Escape Theater, Chick-fil-a, Rachel Neal, Charlotte Elder, Zac Callahan, Ryan Arnold, Trinity Edwards, Steve Rey, Doris Miller and Steve Spencer.
