WKU Student Government Association Presents Awards, Swears In New Officers

Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University’s Student Government Association presented several awards and swore in officers for 2007-08 at its annual banquet May 1.
           
Jeanne Lynn Johnson of Marion is the new SGA president and student regent. She received the Dero Downing Award for outstanding contribution to the university.
           
Johnathon Franklin L. Boles of Elizabethtown is executive vice president and received the Kerrie Faye Stewart Memorial Award for campus involvement, academic achievement, enthusiasm and dedication.
           
Kayla Shelton of Gallatin, Tenn., is the speaker of the Student Senate and was named Senator of the Year for outstanding contributions to the organization.
           
Cherieth Lea Lineweaver of Louisville is administrative vice president.
           
Lucas Humble of Monticello was named Committee Member of the Year for outstanding contribution to the organization.
           
Amanda Beth Allen of Goodlettsville, Tenn., received the Charles A. Keown Award, the highest honor given by SGA, for the highest level of dedication to the organization.
           
Matthew L. Holland of Nashville received the Mary Angela Norcia Award for campus leadership, academics, charismatic personality and for personifying the university’s motto, “the spirit makes the master.”
           
Charley Pride, director of Student Activities and Organizations, received the Citizens Award. This award is given to a person within the community who has displayed leadership and has been a major WKU supporter.
