Southern KY Concert Band Announces Summer Series

Green, Ky. -The Southern Kentucky Concert Band has announced its 14th Twilight Concert Series Summer Schedule.
The band, under the direction of John C. Carmichael, will hold concerts on Thursdays beginning May 31 in the Basil Griffin Park Amphitheater. The band will rehearse on Tuesdays in the Western Kentucky University Band Rehearsal Hall.
The concerts, which are free and begin at 7 p.m., include:
May 31 Celebrating the Celtic Condition
June 7 Music for Outside Dining
June 14 John and Jerry, A Movie Experience
June 21 Meet the Composer: Sam Hazo
June 28 A Sousa Says So-long Spectacular
July 5 Our Country and Our Heritage
July 12 A Little Twilight Music
July 19 The Lost River Cave Big Band
This will be Carmichael’s last season with the band, which he helped start in 1994. Carmichael has accepted a conducting position at the University of South Florida. His final performance will be June 28 when he impersonates John Philip Sousa.
