Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University’s Third Annual Hilltopper Black Bag Classic sponsored by Camping World generated a $4,300 donation for The Dream Factory, a local organization granting dreams to children with critical and chronic illnesses from the 10-county Barren River Area Development District.
Students from Dr. Tammie Stenger-Ramsey’s Recreation 306 Program Planning Course hosted the bass fishing tournament April 21 at Barren River Lake.
Kevin Snider of Elizabethtown won the $500 Big Fish of the Day.
The following teams won $300 for having the biggest fish weighed each hour: 8 a.m., Larry Piper and Don Stinson; 9 a.m., Billy Miller and Brady Bunton; 10 a.m., Jason Drook and Grant Drook; 11 a.m., Kevin Snider; noon, Raymond Jarrett and Brian Stinson; 1 p.m., Nathan Howell and Mike Carter.
The following teams had the second largest fish each hour and received $200: 8 a.m., Rick Bagwell and Billy Marsh; 9 a.m., Bruce Jones and Eric Spillman; 10 a.m., Michael Bean and Jason Bean; 11 a.m., Warren Jewell and Mike Jewell; noon, Robbie Halbman and Derrick Cline; 1 p.m., Dan Coffey and Brett Coffey.
The following teams caught the third largest fish each hour and received $100:
8 a.m., Mark Beals and Hugh Haire; 9 a.m., Mike Waldrop and Pete Rich; 10 a.m., Bart Catlett and Doug Reed; 11 a.m., Larry Piper and Don Stinson; noon, Kelly Dorman and John Paul Carnes; 1 p.m., Dan Coffey and Brett Coffey.
Luke Bartlett and David Johnson won racing packages for the Indianapolis 500 and the All-State 400 at the Brickyard, donated by Camping World. Sponsors for the event were: Camping World, Sam’s Club, Wal-Mart, Houchen’s Industries, Ranger Bob’s Bait & Tackle, WBVR 96.7, Bowling Green Marine, Cheek Brother’s Trading Post, Chuck’s Wine & Spirits, Signature Signs, Dunham’s Sports, Sportsmen’s Edge, WKU Bookstore, Kroger, We Make Things Happen (WMTH) Corporation, Lourdes Hospital, Culver’s Frozen Custard and Butterburgers, Heaven’s Best Carpet Cleaning, WKU Department of Intramural-Recreational Sports, Grim Reaper and Magic Stop.
Keith and Kelvin Fryberger and Food Giant of Paducah supplied barbecue for the event.
