Green, Ky. - Film maker John Carpenter, who will receive an honorary doctorate Saturday at Western Kentucky University, will visit with WKU students Thursday and Friday.
Carpenter, a successful director, screenwriter, producer and composer, will meet with students in the School of Journalism and Broadcasting at 3:45 p.m. Thursday at Mass Media and Technology Hall, room 232.
He also will meet with faculty and students from Potter College of Arts & Letters at 3 p.m. Friday in Cherry Hall, room 125.
Carpenter’s films include “Halloween,” “Escape from New York,” “The Thing” and “Vampires.” He is a graduate of College High and attended WKU from 1965 to 1968 before leaving Bowling Green for film school at the University of Southern California. He was inducted into WKU’s Hall of Distinguished Alumni in 1999.
Carpenter will receive an honorary doctorate Saturday during the 10 a.m. undergraduate commencement ceremony.
