Bowling
Green, Ky. -The Kentucky High School Speech League, Inc., hosted the 2007 Junior State Speech Tournament March 23-24 on the campus of Western Kentucky University.
Thirty-seven schools competed at this year’s speech tournament.
The following schools placed in team speech sweepstakes: SCAPA (School for the Creative and Performing Arts, Bluegrass), Ockerman, Kentucky Country Day, Roy G. Eversole, Southern Pulaski, John’s Creek, East Hardin, Calloway County, Highlands and St. Paul School.
The Horizon Awards are given to schools with smaller entries who demonstrate excellence at the State Tournament.
The top five were: Corbin, Winburn, Harrison County, Crittenden County and LaRue County.
The 2007 Sustained Excellence Trophy was presented to Harrison County Middle School.
The Blyton Book Award was presented to Xan Belzley of Kentucky Country Day Lower.
