Cornell Professor To Address 'Global Financial Crises'

Bowling Green, Ky. -Dr. Iwan Azis from the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University will speak on "Global Financial Crises" on March 26 at 10:20 a.m. in the Grise Hall Auditorium at Western Kentucky University.
           
Dr. Azis has addressed and published topics of financial economics, economic modeling, and interactions between macro-micro policies and socio-economic variables. He teaches courses on financial crisis, public and spatial economics, planning and policy analysis, and macroeconomics and international trade.
           
Dr. Azis has conducted research and consulting work for international organizations (e.g., the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, IDRC, ADB Institute, ISEAS, Asian Pacific Development Center, UNDP, Research Triangle Institute, International Food Policy Research Institute, the Asia Foundation, and Carnegie Endowment for International Peace), for universities (e.g., Center for International Development at Harvard University, Initiative for Policy Dialogue at Columbia University, Institute of Advanced Studies at the UN University, Center for Economic Policy Analysis at the New School University, and Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies at the Australian National University), as well as for governments (e.g., Colombia, Japan, China, and Indonesia).
           
He held a visiting professorship at the MITI Institute in Japan, Australian National University, and Gakushuin University in Tokyo. In early 1998, he spoke before the Joint Economic Committee (JEC) of the US Congress on the Asian Crisis along with the deputy Prime Ministers of Thailand and Korea, and he is a fellow in the Eisenhower Foundation.
