Green, Ky. - Jagdish Khubchandani, a graduate of the Department of Public Health at Western Kentucky University, has been selected as the first recipient of the “Tony Mobley International Student Award” from the School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation at Indiana University.
Khubchandani, a native of India, pursued his master’s in public health at WKU. Intrigued by public health education and research, Khubchandani expressed a desire to pursue a doctorate in the same field. He has been offered admission and scholarship from six schools.
The letter from Jerry D. Wilkerson, Executive Associate Dean (School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation at Indiana University) states: “It is a pleasure to inform you that you have been selected to receive the Tony Mobley International Student Award, from the School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation at Indiana University. It is the first year we are offering this award. We are notifying you because it is a prestigious award and given to an outstanding international graduate student. Congratulations for being the first to receive this award.”
Khubchandani, who won the Outstanding Graduate Student Award in Public Health, Health Education this year at WKU, said: “It is extremely humbling to know that I have received this award. Sir Tony Mobley who was born in Kentucky has a career span of more than four decades in the field of Health, Physical Education and Recreation. At the starting of my career if I have an association with his esteemed name it is due to WKU and my faculty members in the Department of Public Health who have worked very hard on me since I joined WKU.”
