WKU Faculty Member Selected For Rotary
Exchange Program

January 19, 2007

Bowling Green, Ky. - Dr. Angela Jerome, an assistant professor of communication at Western Kentucky University, has been selected as one of four team members to represent Rotary District 6710 on a group study exchange to Germany in June 2007.

A candidate from the Bowling Green Rotary Club, Dr. Jerome was selected from a field of nine candidates to represent Rotary District 6710.

“We are delighted and honored to have Dr. Jerome selected to represent our Bowling Green Rotary Club as a GSE Team member,” said Shannon Morgan, president of the Bowling Green Rotary Club. “This unique exchange program undoubtedly will be a life-changing event for Dr. Jerome and the other participating Rotarians. Evenly as important, however, is the fact that our local Rotary Club, WKU and Dr. Jerome’s future students will also benefit immensely as she shares her insights and experiences following her exchange.”

According to rotary.org, “the Group Study Exchange (GSE) program of The Rotary Foundation is a unique cultural and vocational exchange opportunity for young business and professional men and women between the ages of 25 and 40 and in the early years of their professional lives. The program provides travel grants for teams to exchange visits between paired areas in different countries. For four to six weeks, team members experience the host country’s institutions and ways of life, observe their own vocations as practiced abroad, develop personal and professional relationships, and exchange ideas.”

In addition to Dr. Jerome, other team members include James Darmstadt, a Quality Engineer for GE in Louisville; Leigh Meredith, a WKU graduate and Assistant Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Kentucky; and Joe DiGiuseppe, President/Owner of Novitec Industries from Franklin, Ky. The team leader is Ted Stiles, a longtime member of the Elizabethtown Rotary Club and Certified Public Accountant with Stiles, Carter & Associates, PSC.
