WKU Forensic Team Wins Overall Title In Nebraska

Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University forensic team members traveled to Concordia University in Nebraska to take part in two tournaments the weekend of Jan. 20-21.
The first tourney was hosted by Creighton University, and the second by Wheaton College.
WKU’s 16 debaters were crowned overall sweepstakes champions against second-place Creighton University. Doane College and Kansas State University tied for third place. WKU also captured the debate sweepstakes championships at both tournaments.
Results from the Concordia Sleet and Snow Swing are as follows:
Barry Fields, a senior from Bowling Green, tournament champion in extemporaneous speaking, tournament champion in impromptu speaking, third in after-dinner speaking, fourth overall quadrathon, sixth parliamentary speaker, octofinalist in parliamentary debate (with Brian Bloss) in the Concordia portion; semifinalist in parliamentary debate (with Brian Bloss) in the Wheaton portion.
Lauren Nelson, a sophomore from Wheaton, Ill., second in prose interpretation, second in impromptu speaking, seventh parliamentary speaker, semifinalist in parliamentary debate in the Concordia portion; tournament champion in parliamentary debate (with Chad Meadows), eighth parliamentary speaker in the Wheaton portion.
Joelle Perry, a senior from Florence, tournament champion in parliamentary debate (with Thomas Schally), third parliamentary speaker in the Concordia portion; second parliamentary speaker, quarterfinalist in parliamentary debate (with Thomas Schally) in the Wheaton portion.
Thomas Schally, a junior from Stillwater, Minn., tournament champion in parliamentary debate (with Joelle Perry), 13th parliamentary speaker in the Concordia portion; first parliamentary speaker, quarterfinalist in parliamentary debate (with Joelle Perry) in the Wheaton portion.
Chad Meadows, a junior from Owensboro, semifinalist in parliamentary debate (with Lauren Nelson), 14th parliamentary speaker in the Concordia portion; tournament champion in parliamentary debate (with Lauren Nelson), 10th parliamentary speaker in the Wheaton portion.
Seth Peckham, a freshman from Alden, Kan., fourth in extemporaneous speaking, fourth in impromptu speaking, octofinalist in parliamentary debate (with Maggie Work) in the Concordia portion; tournament champion in novice parliamentary debate (with Maggie Work), second novice parliamentary speaker in the Wheaton portion.
Maggie Work, a freshman from Evansville, Ind., octofinalist in parliamentary debate (with Seth Peckham), 17th parliamentary speaker in the Concordia portion; tournament champion in tournament champion in novice parliamentary debate (with Seth Peckham), first novice parliamentary speaker in the Wheaton portion.
Jessica Furgerson, a freshman from San Antonio, third in extemporaneous speaking, sixth in impromptu speaking, octofinalist in parliamentary debate (with Adam Heugel), 15th parliamentary speaker in the Concordia portion.
Rachel Mosley, a sophomore from Verde, Nev., first parliamentary speaker, semifinalist in parliamentary debate (with Joseph Allen) in the Concordia portion; quarterfinalist in parliamentary debate (with Joseph Allen) in the Wheaton portion.
Elizabeth Mullins, a freshman from Plymouth, Mass., second in parliamentary debate (with Logan Parke), fourth parliamentary speaker in the Concordia portion.
Logan Parke, a freshman from Little Rock, Ark., second in parliamentary debate (with Elizabeth Mullins), semifinalist in Lincoln-Douglas debate in the Concordia portion.
Joseph Allen, a sophomore from Boise, Idaho, semifinalist in parliamentary debate (with Rachel Mosley), semifinalist in Lincoln-Douglas debate, fifth parliamentary speaker in the Concordia portion; quarterfinalist in parliamentary debate (with Rachel Mosley), seventh parliamentary speaker in the Wheaton portion.
Keyon Shokraie, a senior from Somis, Calif., quarterfinalist in parliamentary debate (with Kasey Gardner), 11th parliamentary speaker in the Concordia portion; second in parliamentary debate (with Kasey Gardner) in the Wheaton portion.
Kasey Gardner, a senior from Simi Valley, Calif., quarterfinalist in parliamentary debate (with Keyon Shokraie) in the Concordia portion; second in parliamentary debate (with Keyon Shokraie) in the Wheaton portion.
Adam Heugel, a junior from Rosenburg, Texas, quarterfinalist in Lincoln-Douglas debate, octofinalist in parliamentary debate (with Jessica Furgerson) in the Concordia portion.
Brian Bloss, a sophomore from Coppell, Texas, octofinalist in parliamentary debate (with Barry Fields), eighth parliamentary speaker in the Concordia portion; quarterfinalist in parliamentary debate (with Barry Fields),fifth parliamentary speaker in the Wheaton portion.
