Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University honored 49 seniors from nine Owensboro area high schools for their academic achievements.
Thursday’s annual High School Scholars Luncheon honored high school seniors who qualify for at least a renewable full-tuition scholarship to WKU. This year’s group has an average ACT composite score of 29.26 and grade-point average of 3.94 and includes 45 Governor’s Scholars and four National Merit Semifinalists.
The students honored at the RiverPark Center included:
From Apollo High School: Kathryn Carpenter, Tyler Daugherty, Roel Flores, Sarah Fuller, Ryan Hendrix, Sarah Kuegel.
From Owensboro Catholic High School: Aaron Cecil, Alexander Fenwick, Nicholas Searcy, Kathleen Thompson.
From Daviess County High School: Laura Hedges, James Judd, Jessica Paulsen, Harrison Price, Aaron Vanover.
From Hancock County High School: Luke Baker, Tyler Fallin, Josuha Huddy, Matthew Miller, Andrew Morris, Matthew Wallace, Perry James Williamson.
From Henderson County High School: Erica Davis, Kelsey Gregory, Megan Johnson, Elizabeth Maltby, Sarah O’Nan, Nathan Peters, Megan Turner, Sarah Whitby.
From Muhlenberg North High School: Thomas Curry, Samuel Dukes, Cody Vincent.
From Muhlenberg South High School: Whipple Durall III, Suzanne Holt, Joshua Moore.
From Ohio County High School: Erin Adams, Jacob Baxley, Kaitlin Black, Christopher Karn.
From Owensboro High School: Brittany Calhoun, Emily Feldpausch, Anna Gilliam, Katie Green, Kelsey Hayes, Kelsey Mann, Joseph McKinley, John Michael Simpson, Emily Woosley.
Thursday’s luncheon was one of five recognition ceremonies WKU is conducting this month. WKU will honor students from the Elizabethtown area on Jan. 23.
