WKU To Recognize Centennial Teams At Coming Home 2007

January 23, 2007

Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University will honor its All-Time Centennial Teams during the annual Coming Home weekend set for Feb. 10-11.

“The Alumni Association created Coming Home in 2000 to give WKU alumni and fans another reason to return home to the Hill,” said Ginny Hensley, associate director of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving. “Homecoming will always be our largest reunion weekend of the year, but we want to offer other opportunities for our graduates to return to campus.

“Where Homecoming occurs in the fall around Hilltopper football, Coming Home takes place during basketball season. We crown the Coming Home king and we honor special former athletes who helped form the tradition of Hilltopper and Lady Topper Basketball,” she said.

Both teams will play Sun Belt Conference rival Middle Tennessee State University on Feb. 10-11. The Toppers tip off against the Blue Raiders in an ESPN2-televised game at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10. The Lady Toppers face the nationally ranked Lady Raiders at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11, in a game televised on the Hilltopper Sports Satellite Network and Fox College Sports.

At halftime of each game, former basketball players will be honored along with the members of the All-Time Centennial Teams, which were selected as part of WKU’s “A Century of Spirit” celebration in 2006.
