WKU Hosting Sixth Annual Girls In Science Day March 3

Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University will host its sixth annual Girls in Science Day on March 3.
The event will consist of hands-on activities for fourth- through seventh-graders to increase their confidence in math and science. The cost is $5, which includes materials, lunch and T-shirt.
Girls in Science Day begins with registration at 8 a.m. at Thompson Complex Central Wing Auditorium, room 129. During the morning session from 9 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., girls will participate in three of 11 classes ranging from “The Art and Math of Tessellations”; “Books, Stars, and Geometric Connections”; “Crime Scene Investigation”; “Dirt Does Your Dirty Work”; “Exploring LEGO Robots”; “Switched at Birth”; and “Volcano!”
A chemistry show is planned from 1:15 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. at Thompson Complex Central Wing Auditorium.

Girls-in-Science Day is sponsored by Women in Science and Engineering (WISE), Women’s Studies, Ogden College of Science and Engineering, and the Provost’s office.
