WKU Forensic Team Co-Hosts Tournaments In Alabama

Green, Ky. -Western Kentucky University forensic team members traveled to Tuscaloosa, Ala., to co-host two tournaments the weekend of Feb. 24-25.
The University of Alabama hosted the first tournament, with WKU hosting the second. Since WKU was a host, the team was not considered for sweepstakes awards. WKU students competed in both halves, qualifying several students for the American Forensic Association national tournament in April.
Results from the Southern Comfort Swing are as follows:
Benjamin Pyle, a junior from Harrisburg, Ill., second in rhetorical criticism, fourth in dramatic interpretation in the Alabama portion; second in rhetorical criticism, second in dramatic interpretation in the WKU portion.
Lydia Nelson, a senior from Carver, Mass., third in poetry interpretation, third in duo interpretation (with Stephanie Youroukos), sixth in duo interpretation (with Jeffrey Boggess) in the Alabama portion; tournament champion in duo interpretation (with Stephanie Youroukos) in the WKU portion.
Stephanie Youroukos, a senior from Harrisburg, Ill., third in persuasive speaking, third in duo interpretation (with Lydia Nelson) in the Alabama portion; tournament champion in duo interpretation (with Lydia Nelson), second in persuasive speaking in the WKU portion.
Beth Berger, a junior from Lexington, second in informative speaking in the Alabama portion; tournament champion in informative speaking in the WKU portion.
Seth Peckham, a freshman from Alden, Kan., tournament champion in rhetorical criticism in the Alabama portion.
Ashley Litsey, a sophomore from Hodgenville, tournament champion in prose interpretation in the Alabama portion; fourth in after-dinner speaking in the WKU portion.
Cornelius Lee, a sophomore from Killeen, Texas, second in programmed oral interpretation, fourth in informative speaking in the Alabama portion.
Daniel Johnson, a freshman from Independence, Mo., second in after-dinner speaking in the Alabama portion.
Ryan Brown, a sophomore from Morehead, fourth in rhetorical criticism in the Alabama portion.
Carrie Guggenmoss, a freshman from Fullerton, Calif., fifth in poetry interpretation in the Alabama portion.
Rachel Wigginton, a sophomore from Glendale, fifth in persuasive speaking in the Alabama portion.
Maggie Waid, a junior from Symsonia, sixth in duo interpretation (with Kevin Cheairs) in the WKU portion.
Jeffrey Boggess, a freshman from Hayward, Calif., sixth in duo interpretation (with Lydia Nelson) in the Alabama portion.
Micah Mason, a sophomore from Desoto, Texas, sixth in rhetorical criticism in the WKU portion.
Kevin Cheairs, a freshman from Bellevue, Neb., sixth in duo interpretation (with Maggie Waid) in the WKU portion.
Adam Swanson, a freshman from Rosemount, Minn., seventh in poetry interpretation in the Alabama portion.
