Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University’s Block and Bridle chapter received a national award at the 87th Block and Bridle Club National Convention in Kissimmee, Fla.
WKU Block and Bridle won the Chapter Activities Award for its community and campus involvement throughout the academic year. The WKU chapter participates in one community service project and one social activity each month, such as Bowl for Kids Sake, Greek Week blood drive and sponsoring an Angel Tree child each Christmas.
Block and Bridle has 84 chapters in the United States. The animal science based club is open to all WKU students. The adviser is Dr. Gordon Jones, agriculture professor.
While at the Jan. 25-27 convention, participants visited numerous Florida agriculture operations from citrus farms to cattle ranches.
