Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University’s College of Health and Human Services Living and Learning Community (CHHS LLC) students celebrated a successful semester with Greenview Regional Hospital on Dec. 3. The celebration was hosted at Greenview Regional Hospital by Mark Marsh, chief executive officer, and Kelly Wiseman, director of marketing. Thirty-one students, seven LLC faculty and staff, and 10 Greenview professionals attended the event.
Among the many students in attendance, one freshman and one sophomore spoke about their experiences in the LLC. Blair Walker, sophomore pre-nursing major from Goodlettsville, Tenn., spoke about her relationship with mentor Bonnie Spears, a registered nurse in education at Greenview.
Sable Royal, freshman hospitality management and dietetics major from Hendersonville, Tenn., spoke about the bond among all the students and the comfort with knowing students in the same classes. Royal also presented Greenview with a basket of homemade cookies that other LLC students had prepared and decorated.
Additionally, Dr. Sylvia Gaiko, CHHS associate dean, and Kate Wright, coordinator for CHHS LLC, recognized Greenview professionals, student leaders and LLC faculty. LLC faculty in attendance was Ken Whitley and Marsha Hopper, University Experience instructors, Gary Hughes, public speaking instructor, and Dr. Danita Kelley, nutrition instructor. Whitley, Hughes and Kelley have taught LLC courses in the past, while Hopper just completed her first semester teaching with the LLC.
The Living and Learning Community hope that their strong partnership with Greenview will continue to flourish as their dedication to student success continues.
