Organization Honors WKU Director Of Sponsored Programs

Green, Ky. - Dr. Phillip Myers, director of Western Kentucky University’s Office of Sponsored Programs, has been elected to the Distinguished Faculty of the Society of Research Administrators International.
The SRA (http://www.srainternational.org/) is a 4,000-member international organization dedicated to the education and professional development of research administrators, as well as the enhancement of public understanding of the importance of research and its administration.
Dr. Myers is a candidate for the organization’s president-elect and also serves the group as a member of the board of directors, associate editor of “The Journal of Research Administration,” co-chair of the creative Body of Knowledge project, co-chair of the 40th International Meeting (Oct. 13-17 in Nashville, Tenn.) and historian/archivist.
Dr. Myers also has been invited to publish two articles in upcoming issues of “The Journal of Research Administration.” The fall 2007 issue will include “The Society of Research Administrators International Evolves: The First Forty Years, 1967-2007” while the spring 2008 issue will include “A Few Helping Many: The Warner Papers, the Warner Commission and the Development of OMB Circular A-110.”
Dr. Myers serves as a consultant to a number of universities on matters dealing with establishing a research foundation, most recently with Central Washington University, and the Structure and Responsibilities of OSPs, with the most recent example being a request from AASCU (American Association of State Colleges and Universities).
His writing isn’t limited to research administration. “Caution and Cooperation: The American Civil War in British-American Relations,” a major work on Civil War diplomacy featuring 12 chapters and 364 narrative pages, 90 pages of notes and 40 pages of bibliography, is scheduled for publication by Kent State University Press in March 2008.
