Bowling
Green, Ky. - The Professional Marketing Association of Bowling Green presented its annual scholarship to Anna Clark, a Western Kentucky University junior, at its April meeting.
The scholarship is awarded to a WKU student in the marketing program. The student must have a major or minor in marketing and a 2.8 GPA. Their entry application is accompanied by a resume and an essay on a topic assigned by the PMA Scholarship Committee. This year’s topic was “Marketing to MyGeneration.”
Clark, from Manitou, Ky., is a marketing major. After receiving the scholarship recognition from Alex Downing, president of the College Heights Foundation, she presented her application essay.
In 2005, the scholarship was renamed the Lou Turley PMA Scholarship in memory of the WKU marketing professor. PMA has given $12,000 to the College Heights Foundation for the scholarship since 1999.
“PMA and the College Heights Foundation are proud to give this scholarship each year,” said Downing. “The students are vital to the future of marketing, as Anna’s presentation proved.”
PMA also released news for the upcoming month. PMA conducts monthly meetings that include a guest presentation and luncheon. In May, the meetings will change venue to Mariah’s on State Street in Bowling Green. The new venue will offer a convenient location for PMA members to meet and a quaint atmosphere with delicious food for the luncheon.
The guest speaker in May will be Randy Campbell, vice president of marketing for the Nashville Predators. Campbell was part of the campaign that initially marketed hockey to the South and helped bring the 27th National Hockey League team to the Nashville venue.
“We’re thrilled that we can bring in big names with new ideas for our members,” said Rick Shannon, president of PMA. “Randy Campbell has been working with the Predators before they were on the ice. This is a great opportunity for learning how to market both locally and nationally.”
