WKU Meteorology Club Sponsoring Storm Spotter Class

April 09, 2007

Bowling Green, Ky. - In preparation for severe weather season, the Western Kentucky University Meteorology Club is sponsoring a Storm Spotter class.

A representative from the National Weather Service office in Louisville will be coming to WKU’s campus this week to hold the class, where participants are eligible to become certified storm spotters. The Storm Spotter class is an opportunity to become more informed about severe weather and to learn about these hazardous events that can occur in southcentral Kentucky at any time.

The Storm Spotter Class will be held at 7 p.m. Friday (April 13) in the Environmental Sciences and Technology building, room 260. Interested individuals do not need to register to attend.

“These student-sponsored and supported events contribute substantially to the university’s goal of engaging students in the community,” said Dr. David Keeling, Geography and Geology department head. “Severe weather affects everyone in our region, and the Meteorology Club is providing a significant service in organizing this program.”
