Bowling
Green, Ky. - Dr. Gregory Goodrich, a meteorologist in the Western Kentucky University’s Department of Geography and Geology, was featured recently in the regional and national media for his innovative research on the influence of regional weather on sports.
As part of the department’s initiatives to promote its new BS Meteorology program, Dr. Goodrich runs the WKU Meteorology Blog (http://blog.wku.edu/~gregory.goodrich/) and regularly comments on local and national weather and climate issues.
In mid-April he posted research about recent record-breaking cold weather and its impact on Major League Baseball. An ESPN syndicated columnist discussed Dr. Goodrich’s research in an April 19 online column, and the Canton Repository featured his research in an April 22 article by the newspaper’s sports writer.
Dr. Goodrich has also examined local weather conditions and the Boston Marathon, among other interesting topics, on his meteorology Blog.
