WKU Senior Wins School's First Silver Addy Award

April 19, 2007

Bowling Green, Ky. - Hannah Moody, a Western Kentucky University senior from Nashville, Tenn., brought home a Silver ADDY from the Advertising Federation of Louisville’s (AdFed) 2007 Louie Award Show, a first for a WKU student.

“I am incredibly fortunate and honored to be able to represent Western with this award,” she said. “There are so many talented artists at Western, and I hope that this ADDY award can open doors in the future for students to show off their work.”

The 2007 Louie Award Show, which was held last month at Louisville’s Henry Clay building, honors Louisville’s best and brightest advertising professionals and students for their outstanding work during the year.

To judge the competition, AdFed brought in three well-known advertising professionals as judges -- Steve Basset, vice president and creative director of The Martin Agency in Richmond, Va., responsible for the GEICO gecko; David Houghton, creative director for BBDO in Toronto; and Marc Lichtenstein, executive producer for Red Car, an editing house in Chicago.

“Knowing that people very influential in the field that I am entering into were judging and observing my art made me both really nervous, and even more proud once I found out I had actually won the award.  It gives me hope for my future career,” Moody said.

Moody’s award-winning self-promotion piece showcases a variety of her work and projects that she has done, as well as previews what she is capable of doing.

Moody is an advertising major on the creative track with a minor in graphic design in WKU’s Ad+PR program. She has had one internship, plans another internship this summer and may work at Imagewest, WKU’s student run advertising and public relations firm, in the fall. After Moody graduates in December she will seek a position as a designer for a magazine.
