WKU Students Provide Football Game Coverage On Internet

September 18, 2006

Bowling Green, Ky. - In addition to Western Kentucky University’s first win of the football season over Chattanooga Saturday, broadcasting students had a “first.”

Three students provided play-by-play of the football game via the Internet. The students announced the game on Evolution.FM, the sister station of WWHR-FM. Seniors Joe Brunk and Cameron Wengrzyn provided the play-by-play and analysis while Bryan Hash provided the halftime report and updates from the studio.

Ten students will rotate the announcing duties this semester. Students plan to announce many of the home football and basketball games. The web address is: www.wku.edu/evolution.

Many thanks are in order for making this occur: Marjorie Yambor, WWHR-FM general manager; Steve White, broadcasting coordinator along with support of the rest of the broadcast faculty; junior Max Meiners, a member of the WWHR-FM staff; Paul Just and Brian Fremund in WKU’s Athletic Media Relations; Craig Biggs, WKU athletics; Erik Costa, engineer, WKYU-TV; and Eric Flowers, telecommunications.

The next game on Evolution.FM will be at 6 p.m. Sept. 30 vs. Western Illinois.
