Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University is planning two Centennial-related concerts this month in Elizabethtown.
At 10 a.m. EDT Sept. 26, the WKU Steel Band will perform at the Hardin County Schools Performing Arts Center. Seven hundred and fifty students from elementary, middle, junior high and high schools will be attending the concert. The students have been provided a study guide by Dr. Mark Berry, conductor, in preparation for the concert. The Steel Band also will perform that evening during an annual Admissions open house at the Pritchard Community Center. The open house begins at 6:30 p.m.
At 7:30 p.m. EDT Sept. 29, the Bowling Green Western Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Dr. Bill Scott, conductor, will present its Centennial concert at the Hardin County Schools Performing Arts Center. The concert’s theme is “Cartoon Classics: Memories from Your Childhood.” A reception will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the John Hardin High School Commons Area.
The orchestra concert is a Centennial gift from WKU to the Elizabethtown area. Admission is free.
