WKU Philosopher Invited Speaker At Conference In Greece

Bowling Green, Ky. - WKU Philosophy Professor Cassandra L. Pinnick is an invited speaker for the 23rd Panhellenic Conference of the Greek Mathematical Society in Education.

The conference will be held Nov. 24-26 at the University of Patras in Greece. Dr. Pinnick will lecture on “The Duty to Master Mathematics: Good Citizens are Good Mathematicians.”

The conference brings together university and secondary level mathematics educators from across Greece. Dr. Pinnick’s participation is in recognition of her contributions to formal logic and philosophy of science. She is the only U.S. scholar invited to speak to this prestigious international meeting.

In addition to the recognition given her by her Greek colleagues, Dr. Pinnick holds an appointment as Adjunct Faculty in Philosophy at the University of Guanajuato (Mexico), is a Sasakawa Fellow with the Japan Studies Institute, a Senior Fellow with the internationally renowned Center for Philosophy of Science, University of Pittsburgh, and is the Executive Secretary for the International Society of the History of Philosophy of Science (HOPOS). Her work is an example of the global reach of teaching and scholarship at Western Kentucky University.
