WKU Wins In Colorado College Debate Tournament

- Western Kentucky University forensic team members swept the top several places in debate and won the sweepstakes trophy last weekend at the Colorado College Debate Tournament.
Northwestern University took second while the Air Force Academy placed third in the Oct. 27-29 event at Colorado Springs, Colo.
Results from the Colorado College Debate Tournament are as follows:
Kasey Gardner, a senior from Simi Valley, Calif., tournament champion in parliamentary debate (with Keyon Shokraie), third in impromptu speaking, fifth in Lincoln-Douglas debate, 11th speaker in parliamentary debate.
Keyon Shokraie, a senior from Somis, Calif., tournament champion in parliamentary debate (with Kasey Gardner), second in impromptu speaking, 13th speaker in parliamentary debate.
Joelle Perry, a senior from Florence, tournament champion in extemporaneous speaking, semifinalist in parliamentary debate (with Thomas Schally), third speaker in parliamentary debate.
Thomas Schally, a junior from Stillwater, Minn., tournament champion Lincoln-Douglas debate, semifinalist in parliamentary debate (with Joelle Perry).
Lauren Nelson, a sophomore from Wheaton, Ill., semifinalist in parliamentary debate, fourth in impromptu speaking, seventh in Lincoln-Douglas debate.
Chad Meadows, a junior from Owensboro, semifinalist in parliamentary debate (with Lauren Nelson), sixth in Lincoln-Douglas debate, 16th speaker in parliamentary debate.
Adam Heugel, a junior from Rosenburg, Texas, fourth in Lincoln-Douglas debate, fifth in impromptu speaking, octofinalist in parliamentary debate.
Joshua Stewart, a senior from Lake Charles, La., second in Lincoln-Douglas debate, octofinalist in parliamentary debate (with Adam Heugel).
Rachel Mosley, a sophomore from Verde, Nev., third in Lincoln-Douglas debate, double octofinalist in parliamentary debate (with Joseph Allen).
Joseph Allen, a sophomore from Boise, Idaho, double octofinalist in parliamentary debate (with Rachel Mosley), 18th speaker in parliamentary debate.
